Of Easter and an important week -

Hello, dear people,

I hope you all are well. I am, well, busy and rather stressed. I calm myself down by taking meaningless jaunts down the paved road to the dead end to take pictures of whatever I want and listening to my "relaxing" music. Right now it is music from Anne of Green Gables. It is impossible not to go wrong there. :) Being stressed out comes from having so much to do! After coming back from Missouri and having the Ligonier Conference, I jumped back into school and piano, and did not really have time for editing pictures, writing thank-you notes...not thinking that I would be returning so soon. Oops. Haven't told some of you yet. Ah. Well then. Must get on with it. :)

This is Elizabeth Serven - soon to be: Elizabeth Serven Ten Dolle. And only I and I alone!....know how to....to....(looks somewhat guilty as sentence trails into silence) ..... fine. I am not the only one who knows how to say "Ten Dolle". But! I am one of the few in my circle of friends that know! Wah haha haha hahaha......cough. haha. Alright, I will tell you if you ask me. :) Until then, I revel in the laughter that ensued when I talked with Beth about how to say it.

This was taken at the Thrower/Notgrass wedding a couple weeks ago. Yes - she is sweet and lovely. :)

She is getting married in just 12 days to Mr. Jonathan Ten Dolle...I love saying his name in my head and reveling that I know how to say it ... unlike others. Haha....oh. Sorry. So - in all a very quick matter of occurance in which I am astonished that my parents allow me to fly back to MO after only 4 weeks, and that the Littmann family actually love me enough to want me to stay with them again! Seriously, people. That is love. Especially considering me. Anyways - it turns out both Mama and I are going! It will be Mama's first time back to MO in five years, and I will rather enjoy introducing her to everyone...including the Servens! My parents have only talked on the phone a bit, and seen pictures, e-mails, letters, etc from them. :) That will be neat.

Did I mention that Beth is getting married? AHHH! (maybe if I put this in small print it will emphasize my excitement) - i am so excited. :D I am so happy for her and of course for Jonathan. I hope he knows what a sweet girl he is getting....like all the Serven women, of course. :) Yes, yes...It really is true. I am not flattering them. Since my first visit meeting them back in June of '08, I have "fallen in love" in a way with the Serven family. I am really glad to be able to share in such a special moment for their family and the Ten Dolles. Thank you for inviting us, Beth and Jonathan! :) Their wedding website is here. You can go and sigh at the pictures. :)

So. As it is getting late, and there is much to do, I must continue on with other topics, although I could talk on that one for hours. :) You know I could.

Okay. So, Mum and I are flying to MO the 16th of April, and will stay there until the 2oth. But, yet another surprise - Mama and I are flying to Ohio this Thursday, the 8th for my Grandma's 90th birthday. We will be gone over Easter, and actually, will come home the 14th, be home the 15th, and leave the 16th! :) HAha...very crazy and busy, but I am so thankful for a sweet dad who works hard, and sends his ladies on trips. :) I would not be going for just anything...but a wedding and Grandma's birthday are very important to me. So now you know a bit of the pressure to get things done.

Alright. Next thing. Since this is the week leading up to Christ's death and resurrection so many, many years ago, I wanted to do something special. Well, it is special to me, anyway. I am going to post a hymn each day this week (some will be prewritten as posts, obviously, since I am leaving town). I hope you will read through each verse of the songs, and meditate on them during the day, and even sing them throughout the day! Several of these hymns are some very gripping and self-crushing favorites of mine. They take me down to that tiny level where I am nothing and Christ is everything, and I cannot understand the deep, deep love of God.

I care not if you thinkest you not to have a spectacular voice, because it matters not. (Slipping into old English, sorry) The Lord cares about your heart. :) You would be surprised at how much more that hymn will stay in your head after singing it aloud one or two times. Print it out, leave it in a noticeable place in your house, memorize a few verses, hum the tune, sing it, speak it - just don't forget the wonder and pure amazement this week should find in your heart. Christ did not come just to be born and to live and teach ... He came to die. He came to die for us. The glory of salvation and the glory of our Majestic God is in the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus!

May you have a wonderful week remembering the gift of our Holy Savior, given for the sons of unworthy and sinful man. May you ponder the agony and the pain. May you see a small portion of the anguish of Christ loving you so to die for you. May you joy in the resurrection!!!

I love you all -
Ever amazed by Calvary,
~ Jean Marie

"He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering. -Isaiah 53:3"

"Man of Sorrows! What a Name!"

  1. "Man of Sorrows," what a name
    For the Son of God who came
    Ruined sinners to reclaim:
    Hallelujah! what a Savior!
  2. Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
    In my place condemned He stood,
    Sealed my pardon with His blood:
    Hallelujah! what a Savior!
  3. Guilty, vile, and helpless, we,
    Spotless Lamb of God was He;
    Full atonement—can it be?
    Hallelujah! what a Savior!
  4. Lifted up was He to die,
    "It is finished!" was His cry;
    Now in heaven exalted high;
    Hallelujah! what a Savior!
  5. When He comes, our glorious King,
    All His ransomed home to bring,
    Then anew this song we'll sing
    Hallelujah! what a Savior!

  1. Awww . . . Jean! Such a sweet picture of dear Beth. I will miss being there in MO with you-all especially on this particular occasion. :) I am so excited, too!

    Grandma's 90th birthday, as well. I will miss being there: I miss her. I hope you-all have a splendid time! It is good to be here, though; and you can tell me all about these trips and show lots of pics. :)

    I like the picture of the cross, Jean. Did you take it? God has given you a talent for this that I certainly don't have. :) Perhaps you can take all my pics for me. Hehe.

    Well, better go. Much love and prayer for you, dear sis' . . .

  2. Thank you, dearest. We'll miss you on both trips, wish you were going with us, especially, to MO. Yes, I did take the pic of the cross. I bought it at Barberville last year. :) I'm glad you like it. I do too.

    I would love to take TONS of pictures of you, unfortunately, you seem to be a couple hundred miles away, not very helpful there.

    Love and prayers for you too....
    Lovey, lovey,
    ~ Sissie
