My Project 52 {Week 9} -

{Week 9} February 27, 2015

This is what I spent yesterday doing. In Unit 3 of my photography course for NYIP, I needed to set up a small indoor studio with lights, reflectors, background, etc. I must have read the assignment 7 times. I fiddled and switched and agonized and said a few swear words in my head and cried.

I just couldn't figure out what I was failing to learn.

Then I remembered the last time this happened, and realized it was happening again.
I wasn't learning anything new, because I already knew it and had been doing it for years of manual shooting.

I spent my entire day agonizing over something I already knew how to do: use light & reflection to gain different compositions.
Oy vey. I had a little glass of Pink Zinfandel that night with dinner. ;)

C'est la vie.

And I can't believe February 2015 is over!! It went by so fast. Spring is quickly appearing in FL.
Happy March. :)

My Project 52 {Week 8} -

{Week 8} February 20, 2015 - The Ligonier Nat'l Conference 2015.
Held at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, Orlando, FL

Thursday to Saturday (today!) was the Ligonier Conference, held at a Disney resort this year.
As always, it was amazing, moving, filled with Truth, tons of fun conversations & joy. And cold weather!
I am so grateful for this time every year, and this weekend was no exception. It was truly wonderful.

Here's a shot I took with my iPod Touch of the bookstore! Those doors were just beckoning to be remembered. :)

Valentine's Day 2015 -

This morning was a really special morning for me, because I launched my new website for my photography!! I'd been working 3 weeks on it, and I finally finished it up last night. I looooove how it looks now, and that's it's all updated! Plus I made a special Valentine's Day offer on it.

Check it out HERE -

Of course right after I launched the new website, I needed to straighten out a preference with Google Search, which had me screaming through hundreds of words, basically winging it until 2 hours later when I finally got it finished. SO thankful and happy that it works now. haha. It didn't affect the launching, but it was really bugging me.

Then I headed outdoors to work with Daddy on two of our oak trees, one is in full Spring green leaves, and the other is yet to get its leaves. We really needed to take off some lower limbs on both though, and some dead ones too, so we were BOTH up in trees, with chainsaws. We worked outside together for 4 hours, and got SO much done! Now we're both SO SORE from all the crazy moves we pulled so we wouldn't, you know.......DIE. (Shh. Don't tell Mom. She can't handle stories like that.)

We finished around 3:30, and I asked Daddy if he would go fishing with me. All I wanted for Valentine's Day was to go fishing with Daddy at the river. (For Daddy's Birthday this past week we gave him a gift certificate to Ace Hardware to buy a new rod, and I bought his fishing license!) Even though I know he was so tired and his back was already hurting, he said yes!!

We came inside and devoured some sandwiches, then grabbed our rods and headed to the river.
It was so great, and so much fun!! We had the whole place to ourselves, because let's be honest, how many wives say "You know what I'd love to do for Valentine's Day? I want to go fishing and smell like fish.", and Daddy added "And not many daughters want to go fishing with their dads either...."

Who needs chocolate or a romantic date when you could go fishing with your Dad? So happy.

It was so wonderful being out by ourselves (and 4 pesky wood storks that wanted our fish) in the peace and quiet by the marina.
I love Winter in FL, and I love being by the water.

I didn't catch anything, I had a few tugs and nibbles, but Daddy caught a 14" trout!!
(Notice the wood stork stalking Daddy, wanting his fish, hahaha)

No joke, I had just finished baiting up my hook with a leftover quarter of a fish someone "left behind", and I hear "Do you need another fish?" and I look over, and he's pulling in a huge trout!! It was hilarious. We couldn't stop laughing about it. His joy will stay with me a long time.

He once again proved, that he is the Fish Master. Haha.

He makes me laugh so much. So thankful for him!

Oh, and he caught it with a lightweight rod that was his Daddy's, which was really special,
because we all used to go fishing together. It's a family legacy.

It was so beautiful as the sun set over the marina and the water. Fishing is so peaceful. I love it.

Daddy fishing...and being stalked by two wood storks. They know where the magic happens.

We had such a wonderful time together. It really makes me excited for all the days to come when we'll enjoy fishing together. We work so well together (today we actually enjoyed our hard work on the trees, because he's taught me so well, and we have the same mind!), and I just love being with him. He is honestly one of my favorite people to be with. He's so great.

When I got home, this sweet Winnie the Pooh card (with a sweet message inside) and my favorite chocolate bar was waiting for me from Daddy!!! I ate a third of the chocolate bar, not gonna lie. ;)

I feel so loved.

So that was my Valentine's!! I'd love to hear how you spent yours!!

With love always,

{Week 7} February 8, 2015 - The Sanford Riverwalk
Binoculars to look at the river & ships. The binoculars sort of look like an owl to me. ;)

My Daddy -

July 1989

Today is my Daddy's Birthday.

When I think of my Dad, I'm left feeling speechless, because I quite simply adore him. I always was a Daddy's girl.
My earliest memories are of being cradled against his morning-rough-face, needing a shave,
and the feeling of holding his curls in my fingers as I sat fearlessly on his shoulders.

My trust in him has rarely been tested.

He is one of the smartest, most wonderful, humble, giving, gracious, tender, loving, outgoing, handsome,
hilarious, deeply loving, understanding men I've ever known and I want to be just like him.

I love being with him, he's honestly one of the most interesting, caring, laid back people to be around.
He more than anyone taught me to love music, to love photography and good writing - my three loves!!
And of course the outdoors, the place of peace, a haven and a quietude for both of us.
Working with him means learning - it means him humming pieces of songs, much like his own Daddy, who would whistle while working, Daddy hums songs. Imagine my delight when my clients recently informed me that I was humming songs subconsciously while shooting pictures!

Daddy is such a hard worker, yet he always has a humble spirit about him.
I've learned so much about how to be an honorable, Godly person by watching him and listening to him.

It is easy to imagine my Heavenly Father's love of being 100x's of my Daddy's because Daddy has loved me so very well.
In turn, I never want to let him down, I always want to be near him, in grief I want him to hold me,
in joy I can't wait to tell him first, and in trouble, his voice I want to hear.

He comforts, teaches, leads, laughs, mourns, listens, provides, protects, gives, encourages, hugs, surrounds with grace,
prays, reaches out, promises, tells the truth, holds up and carries along our family.

I'm so proud of him, and so deeply thankful for him. I am rich with his presence in my life.
God has blessed us, and rarely is it more obvious to me than when I'm with him.

I love you, Daddy. To the moon and back and all the stars in between.

Love from your Redhead Girl. Happy Birthday!

My Project 52 {Week 5 & 6} -

{Week 5} Our breezy Saturday evening at the marina, January 31, 2015.
Becs & I had a great time fishing, even though all the fish were sleeping. ;) Silly fish.

{Week 6} Feb. 7, 2015, My shopping basket today - all ready to make lemon truffles for Valentines!
One of the million reasons I never want to move out of the South is because of Publix, our grocery store. It's the greatest.

I keep forgetting to lug my camera places!! I don't take it fishing, 'cause I'm covered in bait & stuff, and I don't take it to Publix because......I got yelled at once with Emily & Lauren because the worker thought I was taking pictures for Publix competitors, which I WASN'T.

C'est la vie.

So these are both iPod Touch pics, I'm gonna try to get more with my camera in the weeks to come!
Hope y'all's February is going splendidly.

With love always,
~ Jean Marie ~
