Haiti -
Haiti - the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, was struck by a 7.0 earthquake late Tuesday afternoon, displacing thousands and killing thousands, the largest earthquake to hit in 200 years.
There are doctors and nurses making sidewalk clinics to help those who cannot make it to the hospitals, because of the mass amounts of injured...the people report of hearing people crying for help under the rubble, and the amount of devastation is overwhelming. Overwhelming, I say.
Daddy reminded me last night to pray for Haiti, for their people are in heavy suffering right now, and as I looked at the horrific and hurting pictures today, I was driven to urge you to PRAY for our Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ there, and for all those who are lost, and need a Savior. Let us pray changed hearts and brokenness that results in trusting in Jesus Christ ... from their ashes of dusty houses and shattered world, may the beauty rise out of the HOPE in our Lord.
Amazing. That Priest, our Lord, desires in His people whom He has blessed - mercy and generosity. Open hearts and open eyes ... don't close your eyes to the suffering that He sees, to the hurt in their eyes, it is painful, I know!, to see it, but they are the ones in need.
Here are some links to dependable charities, on the Desiring God website -
and HERE are some pictures at the Boston Globe Big Picture website, of the earthquake's trauma. ** Viewer discretion advised by me, please, I'd say, if you are 16 and younger, please do not scroll through these without a parent either: viewing them first, or looking through them with you, as there is some disturbing content ** (I would also not advise reading through the comments at the end, as usually they are arguments over peace and war. :) )
"Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; (9)not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing....
(12) For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their prayers; but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil....
(17) For it is better, if it is the will of God, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil." ~ 1 Peter 3: 8-9, 12, & 17 (NKJV) ~
I urge you to pray .... for those the Lord loves, in Haiti.
